With very few touches create complete to-do lists.

Our friend, Savannah Jack has arrived in Kenya and happens to be making a to-do list right now, so let’s follow along…

Savannah Jack opens Egretlist. The (+) button in most screens will let him add a list

He types his first entry, touches return and…

…Great! His first to-do!

He needs to pack his camera, so he types in another entry…

…quickly chooses the Travel Notebook for his list…

…takes a pic of the camera that he needs to take along…

…and now his “Pack camera” to-do has an image included. He types some more to-dos and saves the whole list with Save and Close.

Jack’s newly created list appears in the Travel Notebook. But now he wants to use this very same list every time he goes on safari. Watch closely!

By swiping the title of the list Jack reveals the extra options sticker. He selects the tag icon…

…checks the safari tag in the tag list…

… his list now appears in the Saved Search named “Tagged: Safari”.

This acts as a smart notebook that contains every list tagged “safari”. Savannah Jack checks it before every safari expedition. He is ready to start packing!

Today was not one of my better days, one of my D3′s is away to be serviced, and today my 500mm F4 lens stopped focusing in the middle of a massive game today between Tyrone and Antrim ast Casement Park, Belfast

Day started well, saw an ex Army landrover driving past the ground with Antrim flags strapped to it.

So not only did i have to Manual focus the whole second half of the game, but my mate Seamus Loughran decided to have a conversation with the Tyrone Manager Mickey Harte, as i’m trying to photograph him !!

Tomorrow has to be better

I’ve spent a considerable amount of my life at The Oval, Glentoran Football Clubs Ground, and i love it, i really do, the history, the people, the characters that go on a Saturday or a tuesday night are fantastic.

Last game of the season before it started Kyle and i took some Black and White pics with the D3 and shot Black and white in the camera, just to do something different

I have been using CS5 for about a week now and i got to say it blows away any other version i had before.

I’ve had a few people looking at me blank as to why i’m near fever pitch about this program, let me explain.

Camera Raw 6.0

For any of you playing around with Lightroom Beta 3, you know all about the major changes to raw processing (better color, sharpening, noise, vignetting and effects – as before Camera Raw retains feature parity with Lightroom’s Develop module)…but one of my favorite ways to use noise reduction is in REVERSE.  In the image below, you can see that heavy noise reduction and little (to no) detail can soften the image to the point where it almost looks like an illustration.  Reversing Clarity is a popular way to soften skin, I think this will be too.

Another new feature in version 6.0 is Additive Grain; yes, it can be used to mimic TMAX 3200, etc. – but I think the real strength is establishing a bit of grain consistency prior to compositing images.  Have you ever noticed how synthetic a 100 ISO image married to a 3200 ISO looks?  With a sprinkle of additive grain (and it really doesn’t take much), the unbelievable is suddenly very realistic.

Mini Bridge

For those of you who liked the File Browser, you’ll love Mini Bridge (I know I do).  From full-screen previews (spacebar) of any file (including your DSLR video) to multi-file operations like Panos, the new HDR Pro, batch, etc. – “MB” has you covered.  Mini Bridge runs in a panel, so it’s right there in Photoshop…fast, convenient, scalable (MB can be an icon, stretched panel…even a photo tray – great for multi-monitors).  I drive everything from Mini Bridge.

Healing

Content-Aware Fill is enjoying an incredible amount of attention (on the off chance you haven’t seen this yet, take a look), but have you heard that the Content-Aware Fill smarts are also wired to the Spot Healing Brush?  That should speak to how fast the technology is; we don’t wire such things to a brush unless they really sing.  Granted, Spot Healing is a great tool, but it never really liked power lines or edge content – those things are no longer a problem.

Wire removal deserves a brief tutorial:

-drop a path on the wire or wires

-close the path

-select the Spot Healing Brush (make sure that Content-Aware Fill is checked in the option bar)

-make your brush ~2x the size of the wire

-navigate to the Path panel, select your wire path

-choose, “stroke brush with path” from the path panel – done!

This is only a small piece of whats changed, they also have Real Full Blown HDR inside the program itself.

I saw this yesterday on Scott Kelbys Blog, and i gotta tell you i have watched it over and over again.

I put their video below, which is a mash-up of Metallica’s Enter Sandman mixed with Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing,” which they call “Don’t Stop the Sandman” You just gotta hear it for yourself. I have been without a Home Computer now for about a week, ( hence the lack of blog updates ! )

My hard Drive packed in two days after i covered the biggest wedding of my career, Thank Goodness the first thing i always do is to back up my important pictures Twice.

I was at The Balmoral Show this week for two days, and on the first day HRH Prince charles arrived, after two media briefings with The Northern Ireland Office, special Media Press Passes and a list of rules i headed out to wait for his highness to arrive, he was fantastic, spent loads of time talking with people, farmers children, you name it he seemed to spend a great amount of time listening.

As i was waiting in my assigned position ( 8 Metres away ) a guy started snapping photos right in front of Prince Charles face !

Who’s that photographer ? i asked the official from London, He’s a member of the public, nothing we can do

What was the bloody point of me following all the guidelines and rules that are set down ?

I would have been better arriving as a member of the public, and working away.

I was sent to the Holiday Inn in Belfast last night to cover Saturday Fight Night by Belfast Promotions and Team Allio for a full nights boxing.

Now, i love boxing and when Allio told me i could walk around wherever i wanted and photograph whatever i wanted, i really got interested.

As well as shooting the whole thing in colour, i also had one D3 shooting in Monochrome and had a ball.

Just a quick post, as i’ll be up for a long while yet.

Just finished an amazing wedding today, Colleen and Gareth, who got married at St.Brigids on Malone Road, then moved onto the Culloden Hotel ( via a quick beach shoot ! )

Make up was done by one of the most talented and lovely people i have ever met Nicola O’Neill from Edinburgh.

Anyway, on to bed long day again tomorrow.

I only met her on the day i got the photos, but from the little amount of time i met her she was a really beautiful person, had no problem explaining to people why she did what she did and is well educated and i hear a good rugby player !
