
More than 35 years after Paul Simon pleaded “Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away”, the iconic camera film is being killed off.
In another sign of the changing face of photography, Eastman Kodak has announced it is ending production of Kodachrome this year.
The company says sales of Kodachrome represent less than one percent of its total sales of still-picture film.
It was launched in 1935 and became one of the most successful colour films of all time. The advent of digital photography has caused sales to fall dramatically.
Paul Simon praised the joys of Kodachrome in his 1973 hit of the same name.
This is a sad day, I learned on Kodachrome when i was starting out over 10 Years ago, Yes that’s right back when you had to actualy know something about Exposures, Apertures and my boss would give me Two rolls to do a P.R job on.
